• Title: A framework for representation, visualization and integration of genome-wide data
  • Description: Recent advances in DNA sequencing technology have opened up unprecedented opportunities to study genomes and genetic variation at a base pair resolution. Visualization, analysis, comparison and ultimately understanding of the huge amounts of data generated by the sequencing techniques do however give rise to major challenges. Finding a suitable representation of the genomic data is a prerequisite for approaching any of these problems. This thesis presents a hierarchical framework for representation, visualization and integrative analysis of sequencing and similar data. In particular, we focus on user controlled realtime visualization, aiding analysis by incorporating the powerful ability of the human brain to find and interpret patterns. Finally, applications in cancer research, as well as other fields, are presented.
