Research
Numerical analysis
of differential equations, covering all aspects from theoretical analysis to
applied problems and software construction. The research is in part financed by
grants from VR. Special research topics include
- Adaptivity
for ODEs, using control theory and digital signal processing
- Adaptivity
in geometric integration, using splitting methods
- Adaptive
grid generation in 2-point BVPs
- Stability
analysis of nonlinear discretizations
- Discretization
error analysis
- Dynamics
of iterative methods
- Computational
problems in physiology, especially cardiomodelling

Software downloads (To appear)
I will soon
publish some Matlab software, based on my research, implementing various
control-based adaptivity algorithms that you can use to control your favorite
solver
- Step
size controllers for IVPs in ODEs – nonstiff and stiff
- Simultaneous
control of step size and order for IVPs in ODEs
- Adaptive
grid generator and controller for 2p BVPs
- Brief
documentation and instructions on use
Until separate
pieces of software are available, you can read a brief research
account with article downloads.

Teaching 2008/09
- FMNN10
and NUMN12 Numerical methods for differential equations (taught in
English)
- FMN050
Numerical methods (in Swedishl)
- FMNN15
Multigrid methods (taught in English)
My teaching
objectives are to introduce the student to the theoretical foundation of the
numerical methods used in scientific computing and to bring those methods to
practical use, by letting the student build a basic experience with the
necessary software, the interpretation of its output, as well as the basic
problems in applied mathematics.
