Institutional Grant project
In 2005 STINT
approved funding
for a project in the Institutional
Grants Programme (IGP) to establish cooperation between the Department of Mathematical
Statistics in Lund and several universities in Australia and South
Korea in a period of four years started in January 2006. The main
foreign partner is Professor
Peter Hall in the Department of Mathematics and
Statistics at the University
of Melbourne. The collaboration will be extended by entering into
an agreement with the Centre for Mathematics and Statistics of Complex
Systems (MASCOS). Detailed information on MASCOS can be found in their
homepage but a brief history
follows. MASCOS was established by the Australian Research Council
(ARC) a couple of years ago and it comprises 13 Chief Investigators
from The University of Melbourne, Australian National University, The
University of New South Wales, The University of Queensland and La
Trobe University. In addition, we also plan to collaborate with a
couple of other universities which are not directly involved in the
MASCOS, namely University of Western Australia, University of Sydney
and University of Suwon, Suwon, South Korea.
The IGP-project aims at initiating joint research projects
in different levels between department of Mathematical Statistics at
Lund University and the above mentioned foreign partners in Australia
and South Korea. Another main objective is to develop joint graduate
courses in several universities involved in the program.
