                              Image modelling with excursion sets

Abstract:

The set of all points where a random field {Y(t), t in R^N} is not less 
than a level u in R is called the u-level excursion set of Y.  We discuss
the use of excursion sets and contours of random fields as models for
image data. Markov chain Monte Carlo methods can be used in implementing
the EM algorithm for parameter estimation in these kind of models.
