Georg Lindgren Stochastic models for individual Lagrange sea waves Abstract In Gaussian waves the random variation of individual waves can be described by means of a Slepian model. In the stochastic Lagrange model two Gaussian processes are involved, for the vertical and horizontal movements of individual water particles. The two processes are generated by the same Gaussian spectral process, and their cross-correlation properties define all statistical distributions in the first order Lagrange model. In particular, the behaviour of individual waves can be analysed by means of two Slepian models. I will present the technique and illustrate it by examples from simulated first order Lagrange waves.
