A Method to Estimate the Damping Caused by Bolted Joints

Abstract

 

The importance of the effects of bolted joints on damping is emphasised, and energy
dissipation due to micro-slip in joints discussed. A numerical method for estimation
of the modal damping is presented and evaluated on isolated joints and complex structures.
