Modelling of Elastic Packet Traffic

Abstract:
Recent measurements of web traffic have reported large
variations over time in a fractal like manner. Some researchers
have concluded that this leads to considerable queuing problems for
web traffic. We have tested this hypothesis and show that this hypothesis
is wrong. We elaborate on the above research and discuss our conclusions
as well as fundamental but new questions raised by our conclusions.
