Stochastic modelling and analysis of communication networks

Lund, Sweden, October 1-3, 1998

A workshop on stochastic modelling and analysis of communication networks will be arranged in Lund, Sweden, October 1-3, 1998, by the research networks Stochastic Analysis and its Applications (funded by the Nordic Academy of Advanced Study) and the Swedish National Network in Applied Mathematics (funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research).

The workshop covers a broad spectrum of questions ranging from theoretical to applied aspects, from recent progress in probability and statistics to the concrete impact this has on our understanding of the behaviour and performance of communication networks.

It will focus on three themes: long-range dependence, large deviations and matrix-analytic methods. Within each theme one or two keynote speakers will present longer talks, and an invited discussant will open the discussion. In addition, the discussants will also give separate invited talks. The keynote speakers and discussants are as follows:

There will also be time allocated to contributed talks, primarily in the above areas, but talks on other subjects are very welcome as well.

Lund is a university town with a population of about 80,000, located in southern Sweden 20 km from Malmö. The Danish capital, Copenhagen, is only 40 km away. Lund University, founded in 1666, is the largest university in Scandinavia with almost 40,000 students.

PROGRAMME

The programme of the workshop is now available. Also available are slides, notes or references for some of the talks.
