Travel information
There are two airports close to Lund: one is Malmö Sturup Airport
(MMX), located 30 km south-east of Lund. The other one is Copenhagen
Airport (CPH), which is in Denmark.
-
Malmö Sturup Airport has frequent connections with Stockholm but
only a few regular international flights.
KLM operates a shuttle service to and from
Amsterdam, and Malmö Aviation
operates flights to and from London City Airport.
There is a bus service
from the airport to down town Lund (the railway
station). If you choose to travel by taxi be sure to check the price
first (should not exceed SEK 300). You can also call for
Minitaxi (tel. 046-121212), Taxi Skane (tel. 046-330330), or
Taxi Lund (tel. 046-138000) which have decent prices. Approximate travel
time 30 minutes.
- Copenhagen Airport
Most people travelling to Lund will come through Copenhagen Airport.
From there you will continue to Lund via Malmö. There are
different ways of getting from Copenhagen Airport to down town Malmö:
- by SAS catamaran
shuttle service operating directly from Copenhagen Airport to
Malmö City International (HMA). This connection is considered as a
regular flight and is the most convenient way of getting to Malmö.
If you want to use the catamaran, be sure to include it when you book
your flight ticket. If you fly with SAS
or any of its partners in the
Star Alliance,
this "flight" is usually for free, otherwise it can be quite expensive.
You can usually check in your luggage all the way to Malmö City
International. This terminal is about 400 meters from the railway
station.
- by bus 109 from Copenhagen Airport to Malmö railway
station. The bus takes roughly 90 minutes.
It is a direct connection to Malmö and Lund,
and you can buy a ticket for the whole trip on the bus.
- by bus form Copenhagen Airport to downtown Copenhagen
(direction Flyvebaadene: Havnegade), and from there
by hydrofoil to down town Malmö, about 100 meters from the railway station.
You can buy a ticket for the whole trip on the bus.
Once at Malmö railway station you can go by local train, bus, or taxi to
Lund. The local trains (Pågatåg) are purple, usually depart from tracks
9-11, and run every 20 minutes (less frequently on evenings and weekends).
Tickets are bought (only) in special vending machines located at
tracks 9-11. The current fare is SEK 30. Travel time is 15 minutes.
If you choose to travel to Lund by taxi (found outside the railway station),
check the price first (should be about SEK 150-200). You can also call for
Minibilar (tel. 040-989898) or Taxi Skane (tel. 040-330330) which charge
decently. Approximate travel time 15 minutes.
