Computational Modelling

Computational Modeling brings together established competence in mathematical modeling with future trends in computational techniques creating added values by reliable simulations for efficient processing.

Research topics

  • Modeling, simulation and control of complex processes
  • Identification of constitutive relations and calibration of process models (PDE constrained optimization); inverse problems
  • Analysis and numerical analysis for hyperbolic conservation laws and convection-diffusion equations with discontinuous coefficients

Industrial applications

  • Transport- and growth processes of biofilms in wastewater, medical and marine applications
  • Sedimentation and activated sludge processes in the wastewater, chemical, mining, food and pulp-and-paper industries
  • Modeling traffic flow
