The 17th European Conference on Mathematics for Industry, ECMI2012, was held in Lund, Sweden 23-27th of July 2012. Short papers and extended abstracts reporting on original research in many different areas of mathematics in industry were presented at the conference. Here, industry is understood as any activity of economic and/or social value. Topics of interest included, but were not limited to, the following accepted mini symposia:

  • Fiber-Fluid-Interactions: Asymptotic, stochastic and computational modeling
  • Case Studies and Practices in Modelling Education at ECMI universities
  • Computational biology in the next-generation sequencing era
  • Discussion and Evolution of MS Curriculum
  • New Methods for Time Integration of EM Problems and Multiphysics
  • Simulation of Biomolecules for Molecular Design, Theory & Applications
  • Fluid-Structure Interaction and Model Order Reduction in Industrial Applications
  • Isogeometric Analysis: Merging Computational Geometry and Numerical Simulation
  • Liquid Crystals, Related Areas and Applications
  • Mathematical and Computational Aspects in Neuroscience
  • Mathematical Modelling in Applied Science
  • Challenges in modern coupled multiscale electromagnetic models
  • Modeling and optimization in nano-electronics
  • Modeling and visualization techniques for a road traffic network
  • Numerical Methods for Random Differential Equations
  • Numerical methods for the real-life processes
  • Mathematical methods for cell segmentation and tracking
  • Mathematical models of the eye and vision
  • Recent advances in modelling and simulation of traffic flow
  • Shape and Size in Medicine, Biotechnology and Materials Science: an ECMI Special Interest Group
  • Study Group with Industry Highlights
  • Computational problem in volcanic hazard assessment

Accepted short papers and extended abstracts will be published online by Springer after the conference. The deadline for updating submissions has passed.

Journal of Mathematics in Industry
