WORKSHOP for nordic Ph.D. students and their supervisors within the
analysis area

In connection to the conference "Function Spaces, Interpolation Theory,
and
related topics - in honour of Jaak Peetre on his 65th birthday" in Lund
August 17-22 August, 2000, we will arrange a special workshop for nordic

Ph.D. students and their supervisors within the analysis area. It is
organized in the following way:
a) The Ph.D. students participate on the main part of the (Peetre-)
conference as usual and get the opportunity to meet and listen to
several
of the leading experts in the analysis area.
b) The Ph.D. students present their problems, preliminary results, etc,
via
posters and informal presentations and discussions.
c) The participants are informed about this workshop and asked to give
the
information they have directly to the Ph.D. students (additional
references, addresses to other researchers working with similar
problems,
ideas, etc.).
d) The supervisors are also active in various ways, e.g. by helping
their
students to get suitable contacts and interacting with each other.

One aim of this workshop is to create a nordic network for Ph.D.
students
and their supervisors within the analysis area.

The country representatives for this workshop are the following:

Sweden: Lars-Erik Persson (larserik@sm.luth.se), Gunnar Sparr
(gunnar@maths.lth.se)
Norway: Dag Lukkassen (Dag.Lukkassen@hin.no)
Denmark: Gerd Grubb (grubb@math.ku.dk)
Finland: Olli Martio (olli.martio@helsinki.fi)

* *Grant from NorFA (Nordisk Forskerutdanningsakademi)

We have received a grant of 70 000 NOK from NorFA to support Ph.D.
students
to be able to participate this workshop. According to the application of

the grant the following maximum support can nomally be given to an
individual Ph.D. student:
>From Sweden: 4000 NOK
>From Danmark: 4000 NOK
>From Norway: 5000 NOK
>From Finland: 5000 NOK

The applications shall be sent to Lars-Erik Persson on the following
adress:

Professor Lars-Erik Persson
Department of Mathematics
Luleň University of Technology

SWEDEN

The application shall contain the following appendices:

A. CV
B. Short description of the research area (max one A4 page)
C. A supporting certificate from the supervisor
D. Total cost
