Computing Services A Short Introduction

The Departments of Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics has since 1988 a joint computer strategy. We provide all our users with personnel workstations and access to several powerful computation servers.
Our computing facility mainly consists of Sun and Digital Alpha servers workstations and PC's. The operating systems are Sunos, Solaris,Dec Unix,linux,Windows 95 AND Windows NT. All departmental  systems have 10Mbit ethernet connection and are integrated to the local and world-wide network.
Finally access from the outside world is restricted through a firewall.

Software installed include the following

•   Mathematical packages: Matlab,Mathematica,Maple

•   Programming languages: CC,C++,GCC,Fortran 90,Lisp,Pascal

•   Mailing programs:  mail,Netscape mail,xmail,Pegasus mail.....

•   WWW navigators: Netscape and Internet explorer

•   + Several word processors (LaTeX,Word..Applixware,...)

•   + Large range of Unix public domain applications.

   Our ambition is to provide all our users with essential system information. You will find  user handbooks, solutions to frequently asked questions and latest system and application changes.
